Care and maintenance of sanitary fittings

arwa sanitary fittings are top-quality products. In order to protect the exquisite surface finish, you should follow the advice below:

1. Chrome-plated taps and fittings

Taps and fittings that are slightly dirty should be cleaned with soapy water, then rinsed immediately in cold water and polished with a soft cloth. You should generally avoid using any abrasive cleaning products, corrosive products or aggressive acids.

We recommend using pH-neutral cleaning materials, i.e. of around pH 7.

To be avoided at all costs:
  • Alkaline solutions or caustic soda
  • Acid-containing solutions (these contain chlorine-based products, such as a mixture of vinegar and salt).
  • Organic acids such as vinegar, hydrochloric acid, or formic acid, which are often used for removing limescale (vinegar acid-based 'Putzessig', descalers classified as toxic, 'Zitronenstein', a citric acid-based cleaner)

2. Nickel-plated taps and fittings

To clean, use soapy water or a pH-neutral cleaning product, i.e. of around pH 7.

To be avoided at all costs:
  • Organic acids, e.g. vinegar acid, formic acid or citric acid
  • Concentrated acid-containing solutions, such as sulphuric acids

3. Taps and fittings with coloured (epoxy) surfaces

To clean, use soapy water or a pH-neutral cleaning product, i.e. of around pH 7.

To be avoided at all costs:
  • Any cleaning materials with bristles, or scratchy sponges, which remove the shine from epoxy surfaces.

Cleaning:
  • Clean the taps and fittings in cold water.
  • Avoid spraying the cleaning product directly onto the surface.
  • Always dilute the cleaning product and apply to the cloth first, then clean the fittings. This prevents the cleaning product from getting into all the little interstices.
  • Never leave the cleaning product to 'act' on your taps and fittings.
  • Always rinse after cleaning with cold water only.

Descaling:

Descaling is an aggressive operation for your taps and fittings. Only descale when absolutely necessary. Follow the instructions on the cleaning product carefully and only apply locally. Rinse liberally after descaling.

Our warranty does not cover damage caused by improper maintenance.
